A Walk Down Memory Lane

As my senior year comes to a close, my emotions are running high. I  feel happy, sad, excited for this journey called life that I am preparing to embark on. Although I am sad to leave the place that I have called home for the past few years, I know that I have plenty of great memories to look back on. Here are a couple of my personal favorites.

There are two memories that stick out immediately when I think back on this year. The first is senior day. We were the first class in the whole school to have a “day” dedicated to us. We spent the morning reflecting on our time at Tacony, and after that we played some games as a class. Although that was fun, the best part of the day was our senior talent show. I was hosting and this was the first time I had ever hosted a show. I was really excited because hosting was a great way for me to gain practice for my future job. I was really nervous, but so was everyone else. There were a lot of great performances including Jess Amaro singing “The Way” by Ariana Grande, Nysir Bouldin with his original poem and so many more. The last act was one of my favorites. James Cutillo was back again with his Tacony famous Beyonce (Jayonce)  performance. The crowd was going wild as soon as the song “Drunk in Love” came on, and James was channeling Beyonce from her Grammy performance, and from there it was nothing less then what everyone has expected. The show ended with all of the seniors on stage doing one of our favorite dances. That was definitely a day to remember.

The other memory that automatically pops in my head when I think about senior year is Senior Prom. Our prom was themed “The Great Gatsby” the decorations were lavish, and we even had a photo booth. The DJ was amazing, and everyone danced all night. Best dressed female was Mariah Williams, Best dressed male was Tyree Thomas, Julia Chiango won prom queen, and Kuan Young was voted prom king. “Overall the prom couldn’t have gone more smoothly.” Said senior teacher Mr. Nase. The senior class of 2014 will forever remember senior prom, so many great memories were made.

In closing the end of senior year is bitter sweet. As the first graduating class of Tacony Academy, we will leave behind a legacy that will last forever. Graduation will take place  on June 14th at the Temple center for performing arts. The ceremonies will start at 10:00 am.
